Associate Director Purpose of Position: Implements, supervises, evaluates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of projects within area of the Recreational Sports Department. Statement of Duties and Responsibilities: Department Leadership and Management: Assists the Director in developing the strategic mission and vision of the department and implementing short and long-range goals and objectives, accomplished through statistical work, including collection, compilation, and analysis of data.
Assists in the recruitment, training, professional development and management of all levels of staff as well as the overall operation of the department and is responsible for the oversight of department in the absence of the Director.
Serves as a member of the Student Engagement Leadership Team.
Oversee all aspects of the membership office. Compiles and submits reports as required by management, state, local, and federal regulatory agencies.
Serves as the primary point of contact for Facilities Services and coordinates all facility work related to the Recreational Sports Complex and reviews cost factors and estimates used in planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness. Guides each Unit on their specific metrics and assessments.
Responsible for the oversight and approval of outdoor and sport clubs trips, projects or datings quest ut utep ut utilizing any of the venues under the Recreational Sports Department and corresponding documentation, reports and assessments. Demonstrates a student-centered philosophy, mindful of student well-being and success Serve as the liaison between the department and all 3rd party contractors.
Contributes to the broader institutional goals of increasing participation by students in student life activities and UTEP Edge high-impact experiences such as on-campus student employment, student leadership or internships and specific events such as Minerpalooza, Homecoming, Community of Care, Project MOVE and the Regional Leadership Conference.
